The character is represented up under an arch and occupies almost all the space of the lancet. The head is taken on an aura a nimbus which symbolizes traditionally the holiness. On the arch above the head a registration reveals the identity of the character: +IOANNES-APOSTOLUS-ET-EWANGELISTA (Jean, apostle and evangelist). He is dressed in the classic art and concerns the Roman toga a tunic.
Of the left hand he blesses and the right he holds an unwound parchment scroll on which we can read the first verse of its Gospel: IN FIRSTLY ERAT VERBUM and VERBUM ERAT APUD DEUM and DEUS ERAT VERBUM (At first was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God) Jn. 1,1 Thanks to the technique of the stained-glass window, the light gets through the characters. Saint Jean also says
